Answer: Learn to Recognize Upside-Down Days in Your Biorhythms

Biorhythms, Shocked Woman With Cell PhoneDid you ever have a day where you wake up in the morning and things are not quite right? Nothing’s really wrong, but things are not, quite right? For example; you might drop everything that you pick up.

You might break something, you might stumble, or trip and fall. Maybe you stub your toe. There are all kinds of weird things that happen.

When it does, it affects your business.

Here’s what I mean:

There is this house cleaner. She cleans a house, and she’s a little bit upset because the customer forgot to leave her money. So, as she’s getting ready to leave, she texts the customer. And she’s like, “Hey, you didn’t leave me any money for today. What’s up?”

And the customer texts her back and says, “You came and cleaned my house last Tuesday and you’re not scheduled until next Tuesday. I didn’t leave any money because this is not your Tuesday.”

Noooo. the house cleaner had gone and cleaned the wrong house, she was off a week.

Low Biorhythms Can Cause You to Make Mistakes

Biorhythms, Woman Having a Bad DayThere’s another house cleaner who uses a hidden key to let herself into a customer’s house. And she lets herself in, locks the door for safety, cleans the house, and locks up when she leaves.  She returns the key to its hiding place after she finishes her cleaning routine.

But on this one day as she was outside cleaning the back-patio door when it closes and it locks her out of the house. The hidden spare key is inside the house. So, she’s like, “I’m so crazy, how did I do this?”

It’s not that you’re so crazy, it’s that you’re having a down cycle in the biorhythmic swing.

What Are Biorhythms?

Biorhythms, Biorhythms Chart

Here’s how it works. Back in the ’70s, according to the history of biorhythms, they became popular and mainstream. And people started studying and analyzing their biorhythms to look for patterns in well being.

Now, everything in life works on a calendar or a cycle. For example, there are 24 hours in a day, there are 7 days in a week, there are 30 or 31 days in a calendar month. So, everything works in patterns and if it didn’t, our world would fall apart.

Humans also have a biorhythmic cycle and so there are up days and there are down days in a pattern. And it’s based on your emotional, physical, and intellectual patterns.

Your Biorhythms Don’t All Peak at the Same Time

Coaching and Development exhausted house cleanerAnd so, they don’t all work in tandem, the cycles are different based on trigonometry. There’s a 23-day physical cycle, a 28-day emotional cycle, and a 33-day intellectual cycle. And so those three elements, your emotions, your intellect, and your physical body, do not work in tandem.

It’s rare when all your cycles are in a downward swing. Which means if you’re not so smart today, at least you can count on your physical routine to pull you through.

And if you’re having a crappy physical day, maybe your intellectual cycle can feed you strategy to get you through the day.

And if both your physical and intellectual cycles fail you, at least you’ll feel on top of the world emotionally and probably won’t care. LOL.

If you learn how to chart your biorhythms you can use them to your benefit rather than them working against you.

My Biorhythms Failed Me

Biorhythms off, can't get out of bedThe variance of the biorhythms will support you if you have good working systems in place. Except on the rare occasion that they don’t. Here’s a biorhythm calculator so you can see where you are today.

A few weeks back I had a bad stretch. Everything in my life it seemed went wrong. Life hit me on a physical, emotional and intellectual level.

I was angry, bitter, tired, frustrated – just everything fell apart.

The best way I can describe it is every day was like riding uphill on a bicycle with broken gears.

Out of frustration and anxiety, I downloaded a biorhythm app on my smartphone and noticed that all my cycles were in a downswing.

A Biorhythm App Can Lend Perspective

Unreliable Employees, Calendar With Days Marked OffHaving an app on my phone didn’t fix anything but it gave me perspective. It’s like looking at the weather channel when it’s stormy outside. And you can gauge an approximate time when the storm will pass.

Same idea.

When it’s raining you take an umbrella with you? You might even wear a raincoat or rain boots.

On a metaphorical rainy cycle, you may put a spare key to your house or car in the side pocket of your cleaning caddy or clip it to your belt loop so you can’t mistakenly lock them in your car.

How to Run a Business in the Twilight Zone?

Biorhythms, House Cleaner With DusterOkay, so what happens when you wake up and you feel like you’re in the twilight zone? How do you run a cleaning business?  The answer is that you have systems in place.

One of the systems that you have in place is that you leave 15 minutes early for your job. Let’s say it takes you 10 minutes to get to the client’s house. Leave at 15 minutes early every single time.

What happens is, there are days you will get there five minutes early. And there will be days you get stuck behind the school bus or in a one-way construction pass.

Give Yourself Room for Travel Time

Biorhythms, Woman Stuck in TrafficNothing bad happens if you arrive at a job a couple of minutes early. Sit in your car and review the specs of the job. Remind yourself of the customer’s names, their kid’s names and the names of their pets.

Remind yourself the hot buttons of the job and what the important things are for the customer.

Product Inventory is Another Biorhythmic Safeguard

Get the habit of doing inventory every night when you return from a cleaning job. This allows you to refill your cleaning spray bottles. Make sure your cloths are clean and that you have what you need to do tomorrow’s job.

Biorhythms, Cleaning SuppliesInventory is a system that will erase the need to be smart. Create an inventory routine. And do it every day without fail – you will prevent forgetting items you need for your jobs.

When your mind is not in sync, you will be happy and alert and feeling fine but not real bright.

These are days where you forget your mop. Or you may forget your cleaning caddy altogether. Create a system that doesn’t leave room for error.

Lack of systems will send you to the store in the middle of a job, or back home to pick up stuff you forgot.

When you go out drinking with friends and you meet them at the bar in an Uber – that’s a system. It prevents you from driving home in a drunk state of mind. You can’t get arrested for drunk driving if you leave your car keys and car at home.

Biorhythm down days can cause you to act like you’re drunk sometimes. You will have impaired judgment and you will say stupid things.

Recognize the Signs of Swinging Biorhythms

Brat Child angry manWhen you are in a down cycle – take the Uber so to speak. Don’t have any important conversations with customers. You’ll make a fool of yourself.

Don’t fire an employee on this day. You will regret it three days from now.

Don’t kick difficult customers to the curb and quit working for them during a downswing. You will regret that too.

And if customers forget to pay you for your work today – they may be having a biorhythmic downswing and just forgot. It’s usually not personal. But don’t try collecting your money today if you’re not firing on all cylinders.

Construction Stop Spacer Savvy CleanerDon’t Expose Yourself in Public Forums and Facebook Groups

If you are upside down in your biorhythms be careful in public forums and in Facebook groups. In fact, you might even sit out for a day or two until you are back in control of yourself.

I’ve deleted and blocked so many amazing people from our private Facebook groups for being the biggest jerks.

And normally they are the nicest people. But as their biorhythms swing so do they and they are unmanageable and frightening to be around.

Reputation Management is Easier if You Don’t Create Chaos

H A L TWhen you’re in a downward spin and you’re having a bad day, HALT. Halt is an acronym for Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired.

When you are on a downward spin – nothing you say or do is likely to be wise. Tomorrow or the next day when you bounce back you will have lots of relationships and life choices that you have to repair.

Learn to recognize the signs and sit this one out. Sitting out is a tough discipline but will save you on the other end days, weeks and years of heartache trying to repair the damage you’ve done.

Be Extra Careful When You Drive and While Working

Biorhythms, Vacuum With Blue Cord Stuck in RollerIn a physical downward cycle, you will be clumsy. You will bump into things. You will drop and break stuff. Or maybe you will get in a car accident that is not your fault. It’s possible that if you were more alert, you could have prevented it by being a more defensive driver. So, give yourself space while driving, and working so you have less chance of accidents.

Every accident costs money and time tied up in the repairs.

Another system is to pick up cords and phone chargers every time you vacuum. Most of the time you will be able to navigate around them, but on a down day, you will get to close and vacuum them up. And then you have to replace them.

Create a Bio Fund

Biorhythms, Broken VaseThe days when your biorhythms are down, are days when you will break stuff. And the system we have for paying for the damage you do on down days is to create a bio fund.  Every day take five dollars out of your paycheck and put it in your bio fund.

Then when your biorhythms are down and you break stuff, you can take money out of the bio fund and pay for it.

Or you can take money out of the bio fund and pay the deductible for something huge that you ruined because your judgment was poor. Bio fund, it’s an awesome system so it doesn’t break the bank when you need it.

And if you don’t use it, the money rolls over to the next month.

Construction Work Spacer Savvy CleanerThe Hurricane is Coming

Biorhythms, Black and White Optical IllusionThe weather channel sends evacuation warnings when a hurricane is coming. They encourage people to batten the hatches. Block the doors and windows and put out sandbags to prevent broken windows and flooding in the event of high winds and rain.

Same rules apply for biorhythms. Nobody is trying to scare you. Just reminding you of obvious precautions to take. The storm is coming. We don’t know exactly when, or how strong it will be, but it’s coming.

If you take precautions and you have systems in place, you’ll be fine.

Don’t Think Biorhythms Don’t Apply to You

Don’t be silly enough to think that biorhythms don’t apply to you or that you can outsmart them. You can’t.

That is like saying you’re going to turn off the sunshine tomorrow. Ugh, no you can’t. You can wear a hat, and some sunglasses and wear sunscreen, but the sun is going to come up like it or not. There is nothing you can do about it actually coming up. You can only take precautions so you don’t get sunburned. Same rules apply to biorhythms.
