If You are Afraid to Sell You Won’t Get Referrals

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Woman with Hands Over Ears, Oh No Not the S WordHow do you get recommendations and referrals if you don’t have any customers yet? You have to become a master salesman.

As a cleaning business you’ll be selling cleaning services but first the appointment.

You can’t do a walkthrough until you have an appointment. You have to sell from the beginning of whatever contact it is that you have with a customer.

Afraid to Sell in the Beginning

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Woman Talking on PhoneIf you’re making an ad, you are selling in that ad. When they pick up the phone and call you from the ad, now you’re going to sell yourself to get an appointment.

There will be a call to action at the end of every interaction.

The call to action for your sales piece is that they call you on the phone. Then the call to action on the phone is getting them to set up an appointment with you.

Afraid to Sell on the Walkthrough

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Two Women TalkingWhen you get to the walkthrough, you’re going to sell your services.  It doesn’t matter what you do, but you are always selling something.

There are lots of house cleaners that think they don’t have to sell. But if you don’t sell, you won’t have a business.

You Can’t Text to Success

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Man on His PhoneOne of the most frustrating things is house cleaners that think they’re going to text their way to success. They think they can text their customers the information that they need instead of real communication.

You can text them professionally, things like receipts and invoices. Even though it’s a world of texting, at some point, your personality has to show up in whatever it is your selling. Even if it is a text, your personality has to come through. That is why there are emoji’s.

Afraid to Sell Your Personality

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Man and Woman Thumbs DownA lot of house cleaners don’t even know their personality. That is the challenge, they have one, but it’s hidden deep inside of them and they’re scared to bring it out. They’re afraid to sell their personality. They’re afraid that people won’t like it.

There will be people that love your personality no matter who you are.

There will be people that hate you too. You can’t please everyone. Instead, you’ll connect with the people that love you and walk away from the people that don’t. It’s simple.

Afraid to Let Your Personality Shine

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, House Cleaner and Cleaning SuppliesOnce you know your personality, you have to be willing to let it shine. Now, it’s hard to shine because it’s an era of a social media blackout.

It’s a blackout because it blacks out our personality. Everyone hides behind their computer screens, cell phones, and tablets.

People Who Are Afraid to Sell Create an Illusion

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Man Hiding Behind ComputerYour profile picture is all most people see when searching you online. It’s your customer profile, it’s what your customers will judge you on. But who are you? That’s where the sales come in.

If you get to a customer’s house, and you look different from your Facebook profile, they’ve hired the wrong person. There’s a disconnect, and after a while, they will fire you because you’re different. They want to hire the same person.

If You’re Afraid to Sell, Explore Your Personality

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Woman Thinking, Who Am IExplore your personality that you were born with. Learn about your personality and use the best parts of your personality when you sell.

Be authentic.

Because if you aren’t, when you come to clean, they’ll say, “Ah, I didn’t get what you promised me.”

Learn to Share Your Opinions

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Woman Thinking on CouchWhen you go to bid a job, you are promising you, it’s your personality. You have to practice every day to be yourself. Most people avoid their personalities in today’s world. Somebody comes in and they say, “Hey, I’d like to take you to dinner tonight. Where would you like to go?”

People say things like, “I don’t know. I don’t care. You pick a place. Wherever you want to go is fine.” No, that’s not how it works. They asked your opinion; they want an answer. Your answer is part of your personality.

Learn to share your opinions.

Afraid to Sell in Every Single Interaction

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Services for MoneyEvery interaction that you have with anyone is a sales pitch. Maybe you were no good at sales in the past. Moving forward, you are an expert at sales and practice selling everything you do.

If you’re making a post in a Facebook group, sell the post. People buy from people they know, like, and trust. If your posts don’t get comments, likes and shares you are not connecting with people.

Practice If You Are Afraid to Sell

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, House Cleaner and SuppliesLet’s suppose you want your kids to do their chores, sell that to them. Do it in a way that’s interesting and exciting and it has your passion infused in it.

If you’re just nagging you’re not selling.  If you practice selling at home on everyday chores, meals and family “to do’s” when you get to the customer’s house and you go to close the sale, you’re prepared and know what to say.

This way you’ve been selling every minute of every day to every person you talk with. Get so good at selling that you are unstoppable.

Invest in Books if You’re Afraid to Sell

Cleaners Afraid to Sell, Woman Reading to ChildrenInvest in books that will teach you words and phrases that will make people want to buy. Learn about eye contact, vocal variety, and body gestures. This way when you say something, you’re illustrating a point. You’re getting your point across, and people understand.

You need to know at what point you’re supposed to nod your head so that the other person nods their head too. There are little tricks that you can do that help close the sale and you need to know them. And they flow naturally in the conversation.

Usually, it’s not the walkthrough where things go bad. It’s your selling, you have to get out there and you got to learn how to sell. Everything you do for the rest of your life is a sales pitch.
