I Don’t Feel Like House Cleaning Today

I’m not sick, I don’t hate my house cleaning customers, I just don’t feel like putting my hair in a bun, and scrubbing all day. What’s wrong with me?

"IReally, nothing. For 25 years I’ve been cleaning houses. And I promise there have been plenty of days where I was having a bad day or just I didn’t want to show up for work.

Every professional maid, janitor, and house cleaning service provider has one of these days once in a while. It may be a biorhythm thing, or it may be the awful anticipation of cleaning a particular house.

Good News, You’re Normal

The first thing to realize is that this “feeling” is completely. You’re not weird and nothing is wrong with you. Lots of people don’t like their jobs.

Second, have you made a list of benefits that come from owning your own house cleaning company? What is your reason why? Why did you choose this for a living?

There are days when I don’t love house cleaning, but I remind myself that I do love what the house cleaning business provides me. It allows me to work in nice homes, with air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. I get to be my own boss. And the money I make allows me to pay my bills on time. Those are my reasons why, and they are reason enough to kick me in the butt and out the door to my client’s house.

"Question

What is Your Why?

People choose house cleaning as a job for a variety of reasons.

I made you a list you can download and post on your bathroom mirror. I recommend you read it every time you have one of “those” days where you just don’t want to do any house cleaning at all.

It will remind you that you that house cleaning is a competitive business. And other maids and house cleaners with these reasons are waiting to swoop in and take your customers away.

33 Reasons Why I have to Go to Work Today

"IIn your head, you will always be able to justify a reason for not showing up, but if you focus on the reasons why you should show up for your job, it will usually be enough reason to kick you out the door with your cleaning caddy.

House Cleaning Is A Lonely Business

House cleaning is a lonely business but it doesn’t have to be. Just because you spend all day working alone, you are not alone. There is an entire network of professional house cleaners going through the same challenges on a daily basis you are. The same marketing opportunities, the same grumpy clients. The same kind of stuff each day.

We have a closed private Facebook group for professional house cleaners, where you can jump in and vent, offer peer-to-peer support, ask your crazy questions and find moral support for these types of days. We also have lots of great articles, blogs, and tips offered here to help janitors, maids and house cleaning service providers in their jobs.

I personally drop in from time to time and add my two cents worth. You should come join us, we’d love to have you.

What Are You Saying When You Talk To Yourself?

What to Say When You Talk To Yourself by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D. is a book I read many years ago. It helped me realize that when I’m working all day whether I’m aware of it or not, thoughts are running through my head. And that I have a choice of the thoughts I keep playing back over and over in my head. If you’re like me, and you don’t like the thoughts that you are thinking, change the tape. I did and it changed my world. Here’s how to do it:

Write A New Script

I mean literally write a new script. Sit down and consciously break down your life on paper.
