And so, whatever happens under this roof belongs to them. We have rules, and we have expectations. Your parents don&#8217;t hate you. I promise they don&#8217;t hate you. I don&#8217;t know why but there&#8217;s this thing with parents and kids.<\/p>\n<p>Kids can be mean and evil, and the parents still love them anyway.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re an extension of your parents. You decide as a kid that you are going to be obedient.<\/p>\n<p>Now I know that I&#8217;m talking about house cleaning and that&#8217;s my specialty and obedience is not my specialty. But I will share this with you.<\/p>\n<p>I grew up in a large family. There are 19 of us kids. And I do know a little bit about obedience. Here&#8217;s a secret.<\/p>\n<p>If you are obedient and&nbsp;you follow the rules. (Whatever the rules are, whatever game you&#8217;re playing, whoever is in charge,) life is so much easier. If you don&#8217;t clean your room &nbsp;&#8211; they punish or ground you.<\/p>\n<p>Cleaning your room creates good will. This means good feelings towards you.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of taking away your privileges they want to give you more privileges. Right?<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Negotiate Your Rules for Being Grounded<\/h2>\n<p>So how do you get out of this quick?<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;first thing you do is you ask your mother or your dad whoever grounded you.&nbsp;\u201cWhat does a clean room look like?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And have them explain it to you because it might be that you&nbsp;don&#8217;t know. So, they need to clarify.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This means picking up your clothes. They call it negotiation.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a reasonable kind of a deal. And if they grounded you for the whole summer for not cleaning your room,&nbsp;there&#8217;s no reason to keep you grounded if your room is clean.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Adults Have to Prove Themselves Too<\/h2>\n<p>Adults in prison have a parole. If they say \u201cWe&#8217;re going somewhere. Please go get in the car.\u201d You want to be the first one in the car.<br \/>\nIf they say \u201cIt&#8217;s dinner time.\u201d You want to be the first one at the dinner table.<\/p>\n<p>You want to be as obedient as possible. Because with obedience comes rewards, not punishment.<\/p>\n<p>Does that make sense?<br \/>\nAlright, that&#8217;s my tip for today.
