House Cleaning – Not Today! @SavvyCleaner

I Don’t Feel Like House Cleaning Today

I’m not sick, I don’t hate my house cleaning customers, I just don’t feel like putting my hair in a bun, and scrubbing all day. What’s wrong with me?

I don't feel like house cleaning and I'm not weird AskaHouseCleaner.comReally, nothing. For 25 years I’ve been cleaning houses. And I promise there have been plenty of days where I was having a bad day or just I didn’t want to show up for work.

by Angela Brown // @SavvyCleaner

Every professional maid, janitor, and house cleaning service provider has one of these days once in a while. It may be a biorhythm thing, or it may be the awful anticipation of cleaning a particular house.

Good News, You’re Normal

The first thing to realize is that this “feeling” is completely. You’re not weird and nothing is wrong with you. Lots of people don’t like their jobs.

Second, have you made a list of benefits that come from owning your own house cleaning company? What is your reason why? Why did you choose this for a living?

There are days when I don’t love house cleaning, but I remind myself that I do love what the house cleaning business provides me. It allows me to work in nice homes, with air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. I get to be my own boss. And the money I make allows me to pay my bills on time. Those are my reasons why, and they are reason enough to kick me in the butt and out the door to my client’s house.

What is Your Why?

People choose house cleaning as a job for a variety of reasons.

I made you a list you can download and post on your bathroom mirror. I recommend you read it every time you have one of “those” days where you just don’t want to do any house cleaning at all.

It will remind you that you that house cleaning is a competitive business. And other maids and house cleaners with these reasons are waiting to swoop in and take your customers away.

33 Reasons Why I have to Go to Work Today

I LOVE cleaning houses said no one ever SavvyCleaner.comIn your head, you will always be able to justify a reason for not showing up, but if you focus on the reasons why you should show up for your job, it will usually be enough reason to kick you out the door with your cleaning caddy.

House Cleaning Is A Lonely Business

House cleaning is a lonely business but it doesn’t have to be. Just because you spend all day working alone, you are not alone. There is an entire network of professional house cleaners going through the same challenges on a daily basis you are. The same marketing opportunities, the same grumpy clients. The same kind of stuff each day.

We have a closed private Facebook group for professional house cleaners, where you can jump in and vent, offer peer-to-peer support, ask your crazy questions and find moral support for these types of days. We also have lots of great articles, blogs, and tips offered here to help janitors, maids and house cleaning service providers in their jobs.

I personally drop in from time to time and add my two cents worth. You should come join us, we’d love to have you.

What Are You Saying When You Talk To Yourself?

What to Say When You Talk To Yourself by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D. is a book I read many years ago. It helped me realize that when I’m working all day whether I’m aware of it or not, thoughts are running through my head. And that I have a choice of the thoughts I keep playing back over and over in my head. If you’re like me, and you don’t like the thoughts that you are thinking, change the tape. I did and it changed my world. Here’s how to do it:

Write A New Script

I mean literally write a new script. Sit down and consciously break down your life on paper.

These are the areas in no particular order: House Cleaning Every Day is a Gift Girl Stands in the Sun

  • Spiritual Wellness
  • Personal Satisfaction
  • Financial Success
  • Relationship Balance
  • Physical Fitness
  • Nutritional Energy
  • Family Harmony
  • Emotional & Mental Health
  • Professional Achievement
  • Educational Advancement
  • Social Interaction

Write down affirmations that are true for your ideal life.

NOTE: Write your affirmations in present tense, as if they have already happened. For example: “I am living in the house of my dreams. My home is completely paid for, and I am enjoying the freedom of a debt free life. In my home, everything is organized. Everything has a place and everything is in its place. I enjoy coming home to a sparkling clean house. My home is a place of comfort and peace. I enjoy spending time with my family at home…”

When you finish writing out your new script, record it.

Record Your New Tape

Rode Rec App House CleaningMost smartphones have recording capabilities. If yours doesn’t – download an app that allows you to record an MP3 file on your phone. I use Rode Rec with is a paid app, but they have a Rode Rec lite version that’s free.

It’s super simple. Plug in your earbuds with a microphone to your smartphone hit record and read the script you wrote. When you are done you can save the file.

Listen To Your Recording When You Are House Cleaning Or Sleeping

I listen to my affirmations reprogramming tape on a loop. When it stops playing it automatically starts over. It’s about 45 minutes long. And I can listen to it all night while I’m sleeping or while I’m cleaning houses during the day. I turn the volume way down so it’s background noise. But my unconscious mind is listening to my affirmations when I’m not paying attention.

My unconscious mind, in turn, believes what it hears – because that’s how it works. Then in everyday scenarios, I am presented with situations in which my unconscious mind asks me “Is this what you meant?” Is this what you are looking for?”

Don’t Sabotage Your Success

House Cleaning I'm finally happy, man at computer desk

Reprogram your unconscious mind first. Then when your conscious mind stumbles into success, you will recognize it as a truth for you. And you can claim that truth in your conscious world. But if your unconscious mind doesn’t recognize it, or believe it – when you find it you will sabotage it.

Tips for Recording

Don’t be super energetic. I don’t want this to wake you out of a dead sleep. Rather the purpose of this recording is to hypnotize you and reprogram your thinking. Record it in your normal everyday voice with your normal voice inflections.

The short cut is to record it in your own voice. Your unconscious mind is already programmed to take orders from you. Your voice. So create a positive tape that solves all your problems, challenges and frustrations.

Give Yourself Time To See Results

The results of your reprogramming won’t show up instantly in your life. But the negative results that are showing up in your life right now didn’t get there overnight either. They have accumulated over years of stinking thinking. And it’s going to take time to reprogram your conscious and unconscious mind. So the sooner you get started, the sooner you will see results.

But if you have one of those days where you just don’t want to get out of bed and go to work – go anyway. And listen to your tape while house cleaning. The worst that can happen is you get paid – and that will help you pay some bills. The best that can happen is you change and uplevel your life. The choice is yours.
